MedStar Mobile Healthcare and the MedStar Mobile Healthcare EMS Education Program is offering an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification program to be held at the MedStar Mobile Healthcare Headquarters. This course is designed to train an individual to function independently in a medical emergency. This course provides the knowledge and skills needed to deliver Basic Life Support (BLS) care and is required to progress to more advanced levels of pre-hospital patient care. Texas certification requires successful completion of a standardized cognitive and psychomotor skills examination, in addition to passing the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification exam.


High School Diploma or GED
AHA Healthcare Provider BLS (CPR) Card (Offered by MedStar, if needed)
Successful completion of an entry level examination measuring the areas of reading, writing and mathematics. (Unless applicant has military background or can provide college transcripts)
Successful completion of a background investigation to determine suitability for certification and a negative drug screening.

Proof of immunizations for Tdap, Tetanus, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, and negative TB skin test or chest x-ray within 1 year.

Students will need proof of current health insurance.

Internet access will be needed to complete homework assignments, however, students are allowed to utilize computer lab on site based on availability.

Tuition: $1300.00, with books total is $1434.00
$500.00 due at time of registration (fee includes tuition and uniform shirts). $500 due by 1/31/17 and remaining balance due prior to 03/01/17.

Textbook: Student will be responsible for purchasing required textbook and accompanying online lab.

Student will be responsible to pay any testing fees assessed by the State of Texas and/or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians at the conclusion of the course.
Student is responsible for the cost of the background investigation and drug screening (conducted through a MedStar contracted service approx. $120 for both)

Student will need to purchase liability insurance prior to starting clinical rotation. (approx. $35-$40 annually)

MANDATORY INFORMATIONAL MEETING for students accepted in to Program: Tuesday, January 24th, 2017 at 10:00 OR Thursday, January 26th, 2017, at 14:00. (Students only need to attend one informational meeting). 

Class Dates: Every Tuesday and Thursday, 0900-1800, January 31, 2017 - May 5, 2017.
