MedStar, Police and Fire Agencies Urge Water & Fireworks Safety July 4th Weekend

July 1, 2015 (Fort Worth, Texas)  In just the month of June 2015, MedStar has responded to 9 drowning/near-drowning incidents – 3 of them fatal!  

 

 

MedStar Mobile Healthcare, and local fire and police agencies, encourage residents to celebrate our nation's heritage on the Fourth of July, but celebrate safely and stay cool on this long holiday weekend!

 

Every day, about ten people die from unintentional drowning.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning ranks fifth among the leading causes of unintentional injury death in the United States[1].    Nationally, about one in five people who die from drowning are children 14 and younger[2].
