NBC-5 & ABC-8 profile MedStar's partnership with Lyft in support of our 9-1-1 Nurse Triage program, including an interview with a patient who used the service...
This process is much different than the recent news stories of patients calling ride share organizations directly for transport to emergency departments.
Under this program, patients go through a detailed telephone assessment by both certified Emergency Medical Dispatchers (EMDs) and specially trained nurses, using internationally developed computer-based algorithms, approved locally by MedStar’s Medical Directors to determine appropriate medical settings and, if necessary, transportation arrangements.
Kudos to our EMDs, Triage Nurses and all those who support this program!
