Employee Benefits

The company offers a variety of benefits to employees as follows:

New employees are eligible for benefits the 1st of the month following their first 30 days of employment.

Health, Dental, & Vision Insurance
MedStar offers medical, dental, and vision coverage to employees and their families.

Mutual of Omaha
Employees may elect to enroll in one or all of the supplemental plans offered by Mutual of Omaha.

Employees may elect to enroll in pre-paid legal plans offered by Legal Shield. Legal Shield offers pre-paid legal assistance, will preparation, and identity theft protection coverage.

401a/457 plans

  • Employees are eligible to participate at hire, with contributions beginning as of the 1st day of the next calendar quarter.
  • Plan provides for both employee and employer contributions:
    • Employer match is one-and-a-half times the employee contribution up to 7.5%!!
    • The plan offers various investment options.

Life Insurance
Employees are provided with basic life insurance and AD&D insurance, both up to 1x their annual salary at no cost to the employee.

Employees are also provided with life insurance for their spouse ($5,000) and dependent children ($2,500), also at no cost to the employee.

Supplemental/Voluntary Life Insurance
Employees are provided with the option of purchasing additional life insurance coverage up to seven times their annual salary for themselves with a maximum of 250K. The employee’s spouse can also be covered at 100% of the employee’s elected amount. Additional coverage can also be purchased for children up to $10,000.

Short-Term Disability
Employees may purchase Short-Term Disability, which is payable after the employee has been unable to work due to their own illness or injury for more than 14 days. Benefits are payable at 60% of employees’ base wages, up to $750 per week.

Long-Term Disability
Long-Term Disability is available at no cost to full-time employees. Benefits are payable after the employee has been unable to work due to their own illness or injury for more than 90 days and are payable at 50% of the employees’ base monthly wages up to $6,000.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Employees are provided with the option to participate in a medical reimbursement FSA each year. In addition, we offer pre-tax savings on biweekly insurance premiums.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
All benefited employees are provided with an EAP free of charge which provides assistance with many of life’s tough issues, including personal relationship information and counseling, health management and support, childcare and/or eldercare referrals, legal consulting, financial planning assistance, career development, and more.

Vacation/Sick Time/Holidays
The company generously provides time off for its employees in the form of vacation and holiday pay. Should employees be ill or need to care for an ill immediate family member, sick time pay is also provided. 

Employees begin accruing vacation and sick time from the date of hire.

MedStar recognizes nine paid holidays each year including the following:

Tuition Reimbursement
Full-time employees with one year of service are eligible to receive reimbursement for tuition costs.
