Smell it?

Smoke from wildfires in the area are creating a smoky haze over our region.

Over the past 3 days, MedStar crews have responded to 87 calls for patients with a complaint of trouble breathing and 67 of the patients were transported to area hospitals

Until the smoke clears, it may be best for people with respiratory issues to stay indoors, if possible!

The Respiratory Health Association recommends that people in sensitive groups – children, the elderly, people who work or spend time outdoors, and those living with lung disease – are encouraged to take the following precautions on days like this:

  • Limiting outdoor activity
  • Staying cool and comfortable – preferably in an air-conditioned area
  • Limiting strenuous activity
  • Staying hydrated.
