Between September 1, 2018 and November 26, 2018, MedStar crews have treated 226 patients with a primary or secondary clinical impression of influenza like illness.

This compares to 44 patients during the same time frame last year!

Analyzing the 226 cases:

  • The average age is 45, with the youngest 9 months and oldest 94 years.
  • 57% of the patients are female
  • The highest prevalence zip code in MedStar’s service area is 76112 in far east Fort Worth.

Between January and March, 2018, MedStar crews responded to over 1,100 patients with flu like illness.

Hopefully, this trend will not continue, but we strongly encourage residents to seriously consider getting vaccinated for the flu!
