Fort Worth Police recently released a warning regarding the presence of highly concentrated, and dangerous Fentanyl in our community.

After the release of this information, MedStar conducted an in-depth data review of cases where field crews documented they administered Narcan® (naloxone), a medication typically used for the treatment of an opioid or narcotic overdose, to a patient potentially experiencing an unintentional overdose.

This analysis appears to reveal a troubling trend that seems to support FWPD’s concerns.

Medical experts advise that any medication be prescribed by an appropriate prescribing authority, and only be filled by licensed pharmacy.

If you or a loved one are taking opioids or narcotics, it may be advisable to keep Narcan® handy, in case of overdose.  Narcan® is available Over the Counter (OTC) in most states.
